As a professional teacher, there is need to have a 'What' and 'How' of teaching? The what to teach, which is the subject content like Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and the likes, and the 'How' to teach them, which is the pedagogical content knowledge.

Most of the researchers use to teach at university. In some careers, professionals who exert their profession without doing research share teaching spaces. When I was a chemistry student, 100% of my teachers were researchers ranging from PhD candidates to experts in their respective fields. While it may seem logical for researchers to be the best candidates to teach in fields such as chemistry or biology, what about healthcare-related fields like medicine, pharmacy, or biochemistry? Who is better suited to lead a class, a researcher or a professional, or both, each one in different subjects? We can distinguish between basic and clinical subjects. I am interested in hearing your thoughts on this matter.
What transformative techniques are there in biology?
Dear all,
I want to invite you as a speaker at my department conference, only in Biology field or relevant. Kindly send me a message for the details.
I work in different disciplines (biology, history of science) and would like to list my publications in these field under these categories. Under each category I want to list them by year of publication. Is this possible?

Hybridization is a technique used in plant breeding to create new plant varieties by crossing two genetically different parent plants. This process involves transferring pollen from the male reproductive organs of one plant, called the pollen donor or male parent, to the female reproductive organs of another plant, called the female parent. The resulting hybrid plants inherit desirable traits from both parents, such as improved yield, disease resistance, or enhanced quality.
I may be the world's leading expert on parapsychology:
Maybe I deserve an honorary PhD in parapsychology. I would then teach afterlife studies @ UC Davis.
When full empiricism seems to have a foothold and more is sought (no compromises sought) then in the psychological, biological and the social : the Age of Reason may begin .

I think the leading parapsychologist is me.
A patient with desminopathy (mutation Thr341Pro DES in a heterozygous state) with the progression of the disease has a decrease in taste and smell, immunosuppression, and an increase in IgA in the blood.
Oddly enough, but all this is characteristic of infections, including viral ones. For example, it is known that if the hepatitis C virus is not treated, then death will occur in 20 years.
In the identified case of late onset desminopathy, muscle weakness manifests itself at the age of 30, and death occurs 20 years after the onset of the disease.
Could the desmin mutation in myofibrillar myopathy be caused by an infection?
Perhaps the infection contributes to the progression of desminopathy?
I don’t think eternal damnation is universal.

Liberalism is a highly hegemonic and maybe all encompassing force that stems from God as humans would NOT have the ability to reason to implement social justice WITHOUT The Holy Trinity.
I guess the literal epistemological plausibility of a belief system is almost impossible to measure. An important question is for whom is both the sustainability and vastness of the belief system.
I am somewhat Hegelian because I do not believe in martyrdom, and or dying on a hill, and usually the popular, and or traditional, opinion has a deeper less obvious reason.
RESPECTFULLY, I believe counterintuitively and anecdotally, sometimes those who abandon Judaism, Christianity and or Judaism for Jesus , gravitate to less epistemologically found beliefs such as determinism, scientific materialism, reincarnation, etc.
Respectfully, which esoteric beliefs are the least plausibly true ? Why?
1)Scientific materialism because the fundamental choice to reason, DESPITE UNCERTAINTY, requires more than material. Source:
2)Reincarnation because if every entity is unique, or might as well be due to UNCERTAINTY, then sharing spirits is less likely. Source:

Hello,
do you think that full spectrum LEDs are less useful than red and blue light for growing green, leafy plants (e.g. lettuce, spiderwort, cress etc.)? I have read many articles on this and know the theory. In practice, however, I see many greenhouses, especially in vertical farming, in which full-spectrum LEDs (cool white) are used. So who is right?
Thank you!

Should the ongoing logging in the Amazon forest, including other natural highly biodiverse forests, be recognized as a crime of destroying the planet's strategic natural resources generating an increased threat to human existence on planet Earth?
Should the ongoing logging of trees in the Amazon forest, also other natural highly biodiverse forests, and the logging of trees in other areas of natural forest ecosystems carried out in the formula of robbery pseudo-forest management should be recognized as a crime of destruction of strategic natural resources of the planet generating an increase in the threat to human existence on planet Earth?
Dear Researchers, Scientists, Friends,
In recent years, the need to accelerate and increase the efficiency of the green transformation of the economy has been growing in importance. This is due to the need to increase the scale of reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, as generated by energy, industry, transportation, livestock farms, etc. continue to generate high greenhouse gas emissions and the global warming process is accelerating as a result. If the processes of green transformation of the economy are not significantly accelerated then the exceeding of 1.5 degrees C of the average temperature of the planet's atmosphere (counting from the beginning of the first industrial revolution) will happen even before the end of the current decade and the occurrence of a global climate catastrophe in the second half of this 21st century will become inevitable. One of the key elements of the green transformation of the economy is the cessation of deforestation processes and the development of reforestation programs for civilizationally degraded areas, post-industrial areas, post-mining heaps, urban areas as part of the reduction of concretions, and post-agricultural areas where the soil has been depleted due to the intensification of agriculture in the industrial model. By 2023, the deforestation rate in the rainforests of the Amazon natural rainforest has been almost halved in Brazil. This is a very good trend, in which perhaps finally the scale of protection of these natural highly biodiverse forests is beginning to improve significantly. This is especially important because the highly biodiverse rainforest ecosystems of the tropical natural forests of the Amazon contain more than 300 million unique species of flora and fauna and the Amazon forest is still the largest natural area of forest ecosystem that plays a key role in the natural process of absorbing CO2 from the atmosphere and emitting oxygen. The ongoing logging of trees in the Amazon forest, and the logging of trees in other areas of natural forest ecosystems as well, which is being carried out in a formula of predatory pseudo-management, should be recognized as a crime of destroying the planet's strategic natural resources generating an increase in the threat to human existence on planet Earth. Perhaps in this way, through appropriate changes in legal regulations, the large-scale deforestation of forest areas still taking place in many parts of the world and/or the predatory pseudo-management of forests that is being carried out would finally be ended.
I presented the issue of human security in connection with the green transformation of the economy, pro-environmental policies and the implementation of sustainable development goals in the article:
HUMAN SECURITY AS AN ELEMENT OF THE CONCEPT OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN INTERNATIONAL LAW
In view of the above, I address the following question to the esteemed community of scientists and researchers:
Should the ongoing logging of trees in the Amazon forest, also other natural highly biodiverse forests, as well as the logging of trees in other areas of natural forest ecosystems carried out in the formula of predatory pseudo-forest management, also be recognized as a crime of destruction of strategic natural resources of the planet generating an increase in the threat to human existence on planet Earth?
Should the ongoing cutting of trees in areas of natural highly biodiverse forests be recognized as a crime of crimes against humanity?
What do you think about this topic?
What is your opinion on this issue?
Please answer,
I invite everyone to join the discussion,
Thank you very much,
Best regards,

What still needs to change, how many more natural and climatic disasters need to happen, How many more red lines need to be crossed for people to take seriously the need to urgently carry out a green transformation of the economy?
Another security line has been crossed in 2023. The increase in average global temperature will reach 1.4 degrees Celsius above the level of the Industrial Revolution this year, the World Meteorological Organization is warning.
This year's preliminary report by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), titled "State of the Global Climate," confirms that 2023 will be the warmest year on record for measurements, surpassing the so far record-breaking year of 2016, when an increase of 1.2 degrees Celsius in average global temperature was recorded. This signals that the world, despite declarations to the contrary, is moving away from its stated goals for action to limit temperature increases. Climatology research shows that there has been a record increase in average atmospheric temperature in the global scla in 2023. The World Meteorological Organization has published a report presenting the results of research conducted on long-term climate change analysis. The publication of this report took place in early December 2023, i.e. at the beginning of the UN Climate Summit COP28 in Dubai.
The crossing of the aforementioned next security limit confirming the thesis of the increasing scale of the natural and climate catastrophe unequivocally means that the declarations made by the leaders of the world's leading countries on combating climate change at the UN Climate COP, among others, do not fully coincide with actions and the actions taken are still far too limited. Unfortunately, individual countries are not meeting their declared targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions to a sufficient degree. The recent UN Climate Summit COP28 in Dubai indicates that this does not look like it will change any time soon. WMO Secretary-General Peterri Taalas, commenting on the theses of a report prepared by the organization he heads, said, "Greenhouse gas emissions are at record levels. The average global temperature is at record levels, water levels in the oceans and seas are rising, the Antarctic ice sheet is at record thinness."
WMO Secretary-General Peterri Taalas also announced that "these are not just statistics. We risk losing the battle to save the glaciers and halt the rise in sea and ocean levels. We can't go back to the 20th century, but we must act today to reduce the risk of a climate that is very unfavorable to life." In support of these words, the report's authors point out that in 2023, the Arctic's ice cap area is only one million square kilometers, less than the previous infamous record in this category. In addition, glaciers in the Swiss Alps have shrunk by 10 percent in the past two years. The scale of forest fires has increased. Forest fires in Canada that occurred in 2023 covered a record 5 percent of the country's total forested areas. These are just some examples of events that are related to climate change. But from the aforementioned report there is also a small spark of hope for humanity and the planet's biosphere.
Well, the conclusions of the authors of the WMO report, however, do not mean that we have already permanently crossed the threshold of a 1.5-degree increase in average temperature, which the Paris Agreement defined as a level that means catastrophic and irreversible global climate change. On the other hand, however, it is a threatening prediction, a highly probable long-term forecast of what may happen in the near future. Besides, what until recently was referred to as a long-term prediction of how climate change will shape up over the next few decades is likely to take place over a much shorter period, as the processes of climate change, including the progressive process of global warming, have accelerated significantly in recent years.
According to data reported by Reuters, there are many indications that 2024 may see further records of the planet's atmospheric temperature increase. As a result, 2024 could be another year of records in terms of changes in average global temperature. One of the additional factors intensifying the magnitude of the planet's temperature increase in 2024 is the phenomenon known as El Nino, i.e. the phenomenon of the persistence of above-average surface temperatures in the equatorial zone of the Pacific. Well, during the operation of the El Nino phenomenon, large amounts of energy flow from the ocean to the atmosphere, causing a short-term increase in the average temperature of the Earth's surface and increasing the likelihood of a year with record high average temperatures. The full release of the State of the Global Climate 2023 report is expected in the first half of 2024.
In view of the above, there is not much time left to save the planet's climate, biosphere and biodiversity. To what extent it will be possible to save the climate, biosphere and biodiversity of the planet's natural ecosystems for future generations depends on how quickly and efficiently the green transformation of the economy can be carried out, including the green transformation of the energy sector, and succeed in building a green, zero-emission, sustainable closed-loop economy.
I am conducting research on this issue. I have described key aspects of the above issue in the article: IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PRINCIPLES OF SUSTAINABLE ECONOMY DEVELOPMENT AS A KEY ELEMENT OF THE PRO-ECOLOGICAL TRANSFORMATION OF THE ECONOMY TOWARDS GREEN ECONOMY AND CIRCULAR ECONOMY
I invite you to scientific cooperation in this problematic,
In view of the above, I address the following question to the esteemed community of scientists and researchers:
What still needs to change, how many more natural and climatic disasters need to happen, How many more red lines need to be crossed for people to take seriously the urgency of the green transformation of the economy?
How many more red lines must be crossed for people to take seriously the need to urgently carry out a green transformation of the economy?
And what is your opinion on this topic?

Here I present my findings that the solar system mirrors atomic systems and has a quantum mechanical solution to the Schrödinger wave equation based on a base unit of 1 second. I further suggest that this solution for our spectral class G2V star the Sun, may indicate that life is a uniform cosmic unfolding throughout the Universe. In this age where we are able to now infer planets around other stars, including Earth-like planets in the habitable zones, and can obtain some of the orbital data, that this theory can soon be tested, because major efforts are underway to build better telescopes and equipment for such inferences, and the the James Webb space telescope has already been employed and is being geared up for such jobs.

Is it correct to filter the extracts we obtain with Whatman filter paper and use them directly in experiments to investigate the bioactivity of phytochemical substances? Or is it correct to first centrifuge the extracts we obtain, then filter the supernatant and use them in experiments?
Dear colleagues,
I am trying to plot a protein-protein interaction network in Cytoscape. My idea is to place the node representing the bait protein on one side of the figure, and on the other side, all the proteins with which it interacts, in a column (I attach a small example). The problem is that is difficult to see "where the edges go", I mean, which node interact with. This is because the edges bind the node in the center. I would like to change the position where the nodes and the edges interact and set it in the right side of the node.
I can not find any way to modify that in Cytoscape Desktop. Somebody has any idea?
Thank you very much
Pedro.
Hello everyone,
I'm curently working on HaCaT cells which require low calcium medium to return to undifferentiate state. To do so, I need to chelate my FBS for 1h with chelex resin among other things.
Typical protocol suggests to chelate FBS, add to medium, then sterile filter the complete medium.
As only the FBS + chelex is not sterile and because filters are not that cheap, I rather filter sterilize a complete bottle of chelated FBS and then use it to complete my medium bottle.
Problem is the resin is clogging my 0.22µm filter, even 0.45µm get clogged before getting the 500mL of FBS passed through...
I was wondering if anyone had come across this problem and may have a handy solution.
- should I centrifuge the bottle before filtration and leave a dead volume ?
(i tried 5min 1500g but it didn't help much) maybe go higher ?
- maybe pass the FBS through a 80µm cellular sieve ?
- any ideas ?
Thanks for your time,
Philippe.
Although fruitful in special science's like biology that also accept the external reality hypothesis , MBEs have not found fruitful ground in physics.
Not that funded research has ever been directed there. Outstanding problems exist together with the empirical success of current physics theories.
But the quest is not rejected by some. MBEs may give rise to a new parallel or sub epistemology, breaking the monoparadigmatic status qwo.
If we take a description of the solar system in terms of Newton's equations then the solutions are time-reversible.
But many phenomena in nature are observed to be non-reversible, "dissipative", hence not having time-reversible solutions. For instance, a glass falling off the table and breaking.
The big question is: can the second law of thermodynamics be deduced from the fundamental differential equations of physics ?
Or more generally are there differential equations whose solutions are mostly entropy-increasing ?
On the other hand can we find (a system of) differential equations whose solutions are generally entropy-decreasing ? Or in which entropy-decreasing phenomena occur in relatively frequent bursts ? Differential equations which would have solutions in which the pieces spontaneously assemble into the glass on the table ?
Contemporary physics is essentially incomplete (cf. the need for dark matter, dark energy, extra dimensions, etc.). Perhaps in the complete picture entropy is actually strictly conserved. The entropy-increasing forces/fields are counterbalanced by (at present unknown) entropy-decreasing ones, in which entropy-decreasing phenomena occur in relatively frequent bursts.
Then it is this entropy-decreasing aspect of nature that is the main cause of life, the cause of the relatively frequent bursts of increased self-organisation and complexity (which would then be further modulated (or "selected") by the constraints of the environment and the ecosystem).
Perhaps the "collapse of the wave-function" could be approached thermodynamically as well ?
Dear botanist/biologist colleagues in Turkey and elsewhere, if you have considered publishing something in Acta Biologica Turcica (https://www.actabiologicaturcica.com/index.php/abt), I suggest you reconsider. They have a couple of days back published an article (link below), very probably without proper review, in which the author makes false accusations against me. The author was unhappy because I did not accept the species epithet (honouring a Turkish/Kurd poet) he suggested, as at first I thought it could be politically delicate (being aware of the unfortunate anti-Kurd tensions in Turkey). The author convinced me there were no political implications, which I after some hesitation accepted. However, we had just revised our instructions concerning acceptable species epithets (quote): "...taxa should not be named after politicians, ideologies, athletes, musicians, etc. that have nothing to do with botany or the taxon being described." When I communicated this to the author, he started ranting and calling me names. I responded by rejecting the manuscript, after which he was after all willing to change the epithet, but it was too late as I told him. Then all hell broke loose and I became "racist, anti-Kurd, idiot" etc.
I wrote to the editor in chief of Acta Biologica Turcica, asking him to withdraw the paper or at least remove those parts which contained accusations against me and the journal I chief-edit, Annales Botanici Fennici. As there has been no response whatsoever, I can only conclude he and/or his journal could not care less, which testifies about complete lack of scientific ethics. I hope I am wrong!

Can an ecosystem be both resilient and resistant and role of biodiversity in ecosystem function and stability biology?
Note: This is not a religious-based argument.
While life has undoubtedly evolved, Darwin's proposals for its origin and evolution lack a scientific foundation. The essence of my argument is that science relies on "causation" and "inductive reasoning," concepts which was opposed by David Hume in his philosophy. For instance, William Paley's watchmaker argument, rooted in inductive reasoning, was confidently dismissed by Hume without recognizing the anti-scientific nature of the rebuttal. Hume then proposed chance and time as explanations for order in the universe.
Darwin adopted this perspective, suggesting the origin of life in accordance with Hume's unscientific philosophy and interpreting the diversity and evolution of life based on minute chance differences during birth. Darwin's primary observations were limited to the end of production lines in nature, which, according to Richard Dawkins, "appear to have design written all over them" or "everything about a living organism screams at you it’s designed." It is evident that one cannot comprehend how automobiles are made solely by visiting an automotive museum. Nevertheless, Darwin's Hume-based argument was accepted as a scientific discovery and has since found acceptance among scientists.
I would greatly appreciate your feedback on my argument. Please refer to the attached PowerPoint presentation and its references for more details.

⚪️⚪️ENG-TEXT⚪️⚪️ The question (hypothesis) proposed by this Open RG Question is the following: Nanozymes were the basic chemical constituent that kicked off the origin of life??
Hypothesis
Nanozymes show elementary basic enzymatic functions completely similar to those of biological systems but with reduced performances in product production and stability.
Furthermore, they are strongly dependent on external chemical-physical conditions as they are truly naked and not protected by physical protective covers and/or chemical insulators.
However, precisely because of these characteristics they could represent excellent candidates for the creation of complex self-catalytic and/or self-replicating (but) pre-biological structures.
Pre-biological not only on planet Earth but in general on any planet or satellite where conditions make the functioning of nanozymes possible.
In this model we start from a relatively original assumption about life and its concept:
..LIFE is an emergent property of matter. Given the three main components (pressure, temperature, solvent), the key is catalysts. Life in terms of organized assembly of functions..
Nanozymes fit precisely into this model.
They could represent the starter of all life forms in the Universe.
The path that will be outlined will obviously have to be subjected to an in-depth bibliographic and laboratory analysis.
Analysis which should also be carried out at the same time during space explorations of comets, asteroids, satellites, planets, both with and without organic or aqueous solvents in a stably liquid form.
The path model could have been the following:
--Primordial nanozymes, formed only by simple catalytic atomic aggregates, plausibly particularly widespread and active in areas affected by volcanic activity.
--Selective pressure based on the stability of the nanozymes and their catalysis speed.
--Second generation nanozymes, originating from complexes with organic molecules (amino acid residues and/or nitrogenous bases).
--The nitrogenous or nucleo- bases of this first phase were almost certainly not based on ribose but on other structural molecules that were much more stable in the primordial chemical-physical-enzymatic environment of the nanozymes: Threose-NA; Glycol-NA; Peptide-NA.
--Additional selective pressures on stability & speed of catalysis of these Second generation nanozymes.
--Emergence of autocatalytic properties in this new generation of organo-complex Nanozymes.
--Very rapid diffusion of third generation autocatalytic nanozymes, with high efficiency and (auto-) catalysis speed.
--Stably self-replicating fourth generation nanozymes through strong expansion of the non-catalytic component (amino acids and/or nitrogenous bases).
--Very rapid diffusion of variants of self-replicating (IV Gen.) nanozymes with strong stabilization, protection, isolation and efficiency of the catalytic core and notable expansion of the organic component.
--Emergence of clear autocatalytic units or clades, self-replicating and with well-traceable lines of descent, among the immense population of nanozymes; population now in strong competition for the substrate; fifth generation nanozymes with clear differentiation between the functional enzymatic part of the active site and the organic part surrounding the active site.
--Sixth generation nanozymes where the active site is surrounded by a complex structure of amino acids linked together but also linked to nitrogenous bases based on Threose, Glycol, Peptides,..; origin of the primordial structure of the genetic code with correspondence between amino acid and groups of nitrogenous bases.
This sixth generation of nanozymes is the one that will give rise to the future structure of the genetic code.
The nanozymes, through chemical selection processes, have undergone a significant stabilization and enhancement of the catalytic functions, leading to the formation of a proto-enzymatic primordial active site, with a clear structural and functional separation.
This proto-enzymatic population very quickly gave rise to chemical clades where they themselves were the product (auto-catalysis).
The next step was constant and conservative full self-replication; self-replication obtained with an even more marked separation, dimensional, structural, functional, between the proto-enzymatic primordial active site and the surrounding structure, made up of amino acids linked to each other and in turn linked to nitrogenous bases.
The last step may have been the close, almost univocal link between amino acids in sequence (polypeptide) and mini-aggregates of nitrogenous bases (2, 3, n units), forming the structural-functional basis of the triplet genetic code.
From this point on, the prebiotic evolution of nanozymes becomes indistinguishable from the biotic one, and will plausibly proceed faster and faster on the basis of fusion of functions, strengthening of functions, size, complexity and precision of self-replication, and symbiosis with other complex organic structures but prebiotic (ex.: bi-layer of phospholipids,..).
This evolutionary model of the origin of life starting from Nanozyme nuclei can very well also include the thesis ""Jupiter's Great Red Spot hides an exobiological nature??""

Classification of Nanozymes
Nanozymes have been classified in two functional families:
I - Oxidoreductase (oxidase, peroxidase, catalase, superoxide dismutase, and nitrate reductase).
II - Hydrolase (nuclease, esterase, phosphatase, protease, and silicate).
Nanozymes have been classified in 3 material from which they are made:
A - Metal-based nanozymes (nanoparticles of Au, Ag, Pt, Pd,..).
B - Metal-oxide or sulfide-based nanozymes, based on Fe, V, Ru,.. (V2O5, RuO2, Fe2O3, Fe3O4, CuO, NiTe, CoFe, BiFeO3, FeS, Co3O4, CdS, ZnO–Co3O4−v).
C - Carbon-based nanozymes (carbon nanotubes; graphene oxide; carbon dots; carbon nitride dots).
Moreover there are also a lot of organis-matal nanozymes (Cu with cysteine-histidine).
The nanozymes catalytic activity is influenced mainly by the morphology.

Great Red Spot hides an exobiological nature??"" https://www.researchgate.net/post/Jupiters_Great_Red_Spot_hides_an_exobiological_nature

A study by Peeters et al. (2017) suggests that sugar traps cancer in a 'vicious cycle' which make it more aggressive and harder to treat (1). On the question-and-answer site Quora, Ray Schilling, MD, concludes: "there is a connection between the consumption of sugar and starchy foods and various cancers in man. Animal experiments are useful in suggesting these connections, but many clinical trials including the Women’s Health Initiative have shown that these findings are also true in humans. It is insulin resistance due to sugar and starch overconsumption that is causing cancer" (2).

To adapt the ERES Cognition TEST to Computer Relativism, we can substitute the following definitions for each of the components:
- Cognition = Sentience * Universe * Gravity * About * Real
- Sentience = The ability to experience feelings and sensations.
- Universe = The totality of everything that exists, including space, time, matter, and energy.
- Gravity = The force of attraction between two objects with mass.
- About = The energy of information and communication.
- Real = A function of reality that is both literal and figurative, subjective and objective.
This gives us the following adapted ERES Cognition TEST:
ERES Cognition TEST = Sentience * Universe * Gravity * About * Real
We can also substitute the definition of TETRA from Computer Relativism into the ERES Cognition TEST, giving us the following:
ERES Cognition TEST = (Cybernetics Resource Purpose Method) * Universe * Gravity * About * Real
This adapted ERES Cognition TEST can be used to measure the cognitive ability of computer systems and artificial intelligence systems. It takes into account the system's ability to process information, its understanding of the universe, its ability to interact with its environment, and its ability to communicate and learn.
Here is an example of how the adapted ERES Cognition TEST could be used to evaluate a computer system:
- Cybernetics Resource Purpose Method (CRPM): The CRPM component of the test would measure the system's ability to efficiently and effectively use its resources to achieve its goals. This could be done by evaluating the system's performance on a variety of tasks, such as solving problems, making decisions, and controlling devices.
- Universe: The universe component of the test would measure the system's understanding of the universe. This could be done by evaluating the system's knowledge of physics, chemistry, biology, and other natural sciences.
- Gravity: The gravity component of the test would measure the system's ability to interact with its environment. This could be done by evaluating the system's ability to control devices, move objects, and perceive its surroundings.
- About: The about component of the test would measure the system's ability to communicate and learn. This could be done by evaluating the system's ability to generate and understand language, and to learn from its experiences.
- Real: The real component of the test would measure the system's ability to function in the real world. This could be done by evaluating the system's ability to interact with humans and other systems, and to adapt to changing conditions.
The overall score on the adapted ERES Cognition TEST would be a measure of the system's overall cognitive ability. A higher score would indicate a more intelligent system.
It is important to note that the adapted ERES Cognition TEST is still under development, and it has not yet been validated on a large scale. However, it has the potential to be a useful tool for evaluating the cognitive ability of computer systems and artificial intelligence systems.

offer a brief answer to the question, "why does the Turing Test need revisioning"?
edit
View other drafts
volume_up
📷
The Turing Test needs revisioning because it has a number of limitations, including:
- It is anthropocentric, meaning that it assumes that human intelligence is the only form of intelligence.
- It is difficult to define what it means for a machine to "think" or "be intelligent."
- It is possible to design a machine that can pass the Turing test without actually being intelligent. For example, a machine could be programmed to simply memorize a large database of human conversations and then regurgitate them in response to the evaluator's questions.
In addition, the Turing Test does not take into account the following factors:
- The ability of a machine to learn and adapt.
- The ability of a machine to understand and reason about the world.
- The ability of a machine to be creative and innovative.
A revised Turing Test would need to address these limitations in order to be a more accurate measure of machine intelligence.
Here are some specific suggestions for how the Turing Test could be revised:
- Use a wider range of evaluators, including people from different cultures and backgrounds.
- Ask the evaluators to judge the machine on its ability to learn, adapt, reason, and be creative.
- Give the machine more time to respond to the evaluator's questions.
- Allow the machine to access the internet and other resources.
A revised Turing Test would be a more challenging test for machines to pass, but it would also be a more accurate measure of machine intelligence.

define what granular "threads = strings" to the ERES Cognition Test enable Scientists to monitor Computer Perception and Intelligence
edit
View other drafts
volume_up
📷
Granular threads and strings in the ERES Cognition Test can be used to enable scientists to monitor computer perception and intelligence in a more detailed way.
Granular threads represent the individual steps that a computer takes to process information and generate a response. For example, a granular thread for a computer vision task might include steps such as:
- Load the image
- Preprocess the image
- Extract features from the image
- Classify the image
Strings represent the data that is passed between different granular threads. For example, the output of the preprocessing step might be a string containing the extracted features from the image.
By monitoring granular threads and strings, scientists can gain a better understanding of how computers perceive and understand the world. This information can be used to improve the design and development of artificial intelligence systems.
Here are some specific examples of how granular threads and strings can be used to monitor computer perception and intelligence:
- Identifying objects: By monitoring the granular threads and strings involved in object recognition, scientists can identify the specific features that computers use to identify different objects. This information can be used to develop more robust and accurate object recognition systems.
- Understanding natural language: By monitoring the granular threads and strings involved in natural language processing, scientists can identify the specific steps that computers take to understand and generate human language. This information can be used to develop more sophisticated and engaging natural language interfaces.
- Making decisions: By monitoring the granular threads and strings involved in decision-making, scientists can identify the factors that computers consider when making decisions. This information can be used to develop more transparent and accountable AI systems.
Overall, granular threads and strings are a powerful tool that can be used to monitor and understand computer perception and intelligence. By monitoring granular threads and strings, scientists can gain a deeper understanding of how computers work and how they can be improved.

- Helpfulness: Is the thread or string helpful and informative?
The scoring system for granular threads and strings can be applied to personal, public, and private ratings in a number of ways. For example, a personal rating might reflect how relevant, accurate, complete, neutral, and helpful a thread or string is to the individual user. A public rating might reflect the average rating of a thread or string from all users. A private rating might reflect the rating of a thread or string from a specific group of users.
Here are some examples of how the scoring system for granular threads and strings can be applied to literal, figurative, and subjective ratings:
Literal rating: A literal rating might be used to score the accuracy of a thread or string that provides factual information. For example, a thread or string that accurately describes the steps involved in baking a cake might receive a high rating for accuracy.
Figurative rating: A figurative rating might be used to score the creativity or originality of a thread or string. For example, a thread or string that uses a clever metaphor to explain a complex concept might receive a high rating for creativity.
Subjective rating: A subjective rating might be used to score the overall quality of a thread or string based on the user's personal opinion. For example, a user might give a high rating to a thread or string that they find particularly helpful or informative, even if it is not factually accurate or creative.
The scoring system for granular threads and strings can be a useful tool for evaluating the quality of information online. It can also be used to develop more accurate and personalized recommendations for users.

The experiment conducted by Bose at the Royal Society of London in 1901 demonstrated that plants have feelings like humans. Placing a plant in a vessel containing poisonous solution he showed the rapid movement of the plant which finally died down. His finding was praised and the concept of plant’s life has been established. If we scold a plant it doesn’t respond, but an AI bot does. Then how can we disprove the life of a Chatbot?
I have a curiosity about the different perspectives on emergence. In biology, we usually assume that there are diverse biological entities, such as cells, tissues, organs, systems, organisms, populations, and communities. We can study each entity from a reductionist perspective to describe how we can understand its properties based on its smaller components. We also study these entities from a holistic perspective because we assume that each entity has emergent properties that cannot be reduced to their smaller parts. Both approaches are necessary because there is dualism in emergence (i.e., we can identidy two different units), but they are not independent (i.e., tissues depend on cells to exist).
What exactly causes emergence? Is it the interaction between the components of the system (in a specific way)? And what are the limits to describe something as a new level of organization that cannot be reduced to its smaller parts? In summary, how can we recognize and classify something as presenting emergent properties in practice? I think these discussions are at the heart of many misinterpretations of scientific discoveries that are usually interpreted from either a reductionist or a holistic view, but not both.
Time isn't a consideration of the sensual responses sent to the brain but events are. Time is rather a consideration of the mind.
17th February, 2024: Update, to the above question and its description, here:
Technical Report The Human Brain, Mind, and Consciousness: Unveiling the Enigma
The exploration of the human brain, mind, and consciousness reveals a complex relationship between the tangible and the intangible aspects of human cognition. This text distinguishes between the brain and the mind, drawing an analogy between them and computer hardware and software. While the brain serves as the physical organ associated with the body, the mind is portrayed as the realm of thoughts, emotions, and imagination. In everyday language, the terms "brain" and "mind" are often used interchangeably, despite their distinct roles. The brain acts as the biological foundation for mental activities, while the mind encompasses processes such as thought, perception, emotion, and memory. This text underscores the unique cognitive abilities of the human mind, including logical reasoning and problem-solving, enabling humans to interpret their environment and develop practical solutions. It highlights the essential role of the human mind in advancing scientific knowledge, replacing superstitions with empirical explanations for phenomena, including the causes of diseases. In short, this exploration deepens our understanding of the intricate interplay between the brain and the mind, affirming the mind's pivotal role in human cognition, scientific progress, and the evolution from superstition to knowledge. Dear all,
I've had thoughts that our understanding of what drives the biology underlying health and disease may be skewed towards DNA and RNA level alterations.
Aside from the central dogma of biology; DNA -> RNA -> Protein, I believe there may be a skewed understanding because the tools available to investigate DNA and RNA alterations are more advanced than the tools available for protein or metabolite level analysis.
DNA and RNA sequencing are cheaper, higher throughput, more accurate, and have better coverage than mass-spectrometry for proteomics. I'm wondering how much the availability of tools influences our understanding of at what level diseases occur.
Of course this is a gross simplification, as there will always be factors at play and interactions at multiple levels.
If the only tool you have is a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail.

Hello every one,
I'm working on the in vitro expression regulation of a viral gene.
I'm looking at the splicing efficiency of several versions of the gene (comming from different genotypes). To do so I cloned the various versions of the gene in a pcDNA3.1 vector.
When expressed in eukaryotic cells, all vector expression but one give me the expected splicing pattern.
The odd one use a new splice site really close to the CDS start never reported in the litterature and absent in all other version of the gene.
The gene in the pcDNA3.1 is under the strong pCMV promoter which also add a 150ish base pair 5'UTR to the mRNA. Whereas, in vivo viral mRNA have a very short 5'UTR or none at all.
I was wondering if the 5'UTR addition and/or the strong expression could suffice to force this artefactual splicing ?
Thank you for your time !
Philippe.

Dawkins thinks there are evolutionary outcomes that are harmful. He dubs such an outcome as misfire.
“What natural selection favours is rules of thumb, which work in practice to promote the genes that built them. Rules of thumb, by their nature, sometimes misfire.”
“What is the primitively advantageous trait that sometimes misfires to generate religion?”
But Neo-Darwinism is based on two processes. Stochastic “Gene Mutation” and deterministic “Natural Selection”.
As it is accepted the outcomes of the majority of mutations – say errors during gene reproduction - are harmful to life and accordingly should fade away.
Therefore, it seems Dawkins has come to the opposite conclusion that the outcome of evolution is normally beneficial and misfire results in occasional harmful products, which in the case of religion has so far been going strong among all nations since time immemorial.
Alternatively, the misfire he is talking about may be happening in the deterministic phase of Neo-Darwinism i.e., natural selection, meaning that there is a second layer of misfire separate from harmful gene mutation. In that case, natural selection is also a random process not a deterministic one as it is claimed to be. The difference is that the probability of it being harmful is not as high as genes’ random mutations.
Can this be a paradox?
I'm doing patch clamp recording in Substantia Nigra pars reticulata(SNr), while I put ChR2 in D1-MSN neurons. During light stimulation, my elicited IPSCs has weird shape of IPSCs. How should I interpret this? Is this biology or artifact?
I am doing a biology research report and need information and statistics. Thank you
Dear Sirs,
regarding to the full-text request of Jayasree Gopalakrishnan dated 26.06.2023 I can send it to
her if you you give me his e-mail address.
Moreover I do not want that the full-text is available on Research Gate site.
This was made possible by Carmen Arena that is a coauthor and she did not inform me that I am the correspondent author.
With my best regards,
Nicolas D'Ambrosio

Is taking multiple factors such as genome sequence, taxonomy levels, behavioural patterns, anatomy and etc into account when comparing 2 specimens more accurate than just comparing its genomes?
I saw these on a same step of conversion of Malonyl CoA to Malonyl-ACP. Could anyone clarify this? I add that reference link below.

Animations are known to be a fast and very efficient way of dissemination of knowledge, insights, and understanding of complex systems. Through the animations, quite complicated research can be easily shared among all scientific disciplines.
While starting with complex systems descriptions of Dynamic Recrystallization in metals about almost 30 years ago, it had become very obvious almost instantly that animations carry with themselves a huge expressive power.
This recently led to development of the GoL-N24 open-source Python software that enables to create animations effortlessly. The user just defines the input parameters and the rest is done automatically. Share your software too.
This question is dedicated to all such animations and open-source-source software, which are producing them, in the area of complex systems.
Everyone is welcomed to share their own research in the form of animations with the relevant description.
"Fred Hoyle invigorated and championed the idea of panspermia with his colleague Chandra Wickramasinghe as it deemed to be a plausible tweaking knob for the chance genesis of life. In fact, the theory can add several billions of years to allow the time-thirsty process to materialise.
Similar to Darwinism, panspermia was not expected to address the correct details of the origin of life question but rather suggests the possibility of simple life form, such as spore-forming bacteria, being able to jump between a network of suitable planets throughout the vast universe. The occasional visitors then either initiate the evolution of life from scratch in a newly formed and life-friendly planet or intermittently influence the evolution of already existing flora and fauna.
The caveat was that the theory proposes the whole universe, not only a local ecology on Earth, the arena of evolution. It also takes the idea of evolution to the extreme by unintentionally suggesting that unintelligent and blind life has the capability to randomly evolve not only to survive in natural local environment on Earth but also to be top-notch fit to survive in the whole of the universe. It has been made fit enough to survive the completely unpredicted and uncharted hazardous journey consisting of three life endangering stages including departure from mother planet, interstellar and intergalactic journey and arrival in a new suitable planet.
According to this theory, life and its evolution are therefore not exceptional to one single planet. The evolution process in one suitable planet is also not responsible for all different organisms on it. New microorganisms are continuously being evolved in all suitable planets and are being transferred throughout our universe. For example, Hoyle and Wickramasinghe suggested that H1N1 virus which was the cause of 1918 flu pandemic did not evolve in our planet but in a faraway one and then somehow transferred into space and arrived on Earth within a shower of meteorites.
Life has been found to be present very soon after the formation and suitability of the planet earth which apparently is considered not to be adequate enough for chance-time to produce it..."
I have tried to further analyse this theory in the appendix of the following document. I welcome any comment, criticism, correction and addition.
This question is dedicated only to sharing important research of OTHER RESEARCHERS (not our own) about complex systems, self-organization, emergence, self-repair, self-assembly, and other exiting phenomena observed in Complex Systems.
Please keep in own mind that each research has to promote complex systems and help others to understand them in the context of any scientific filed. We can educate each other in this way.
Experiments, simulations, and theoretical results are equally important.
Links to videos and animations will help everyone to understand the given phenomenon under study quickly and efficiently.
I know many websites have simple tools like transcription and translation available, but are there any analysis tools that researchers need that either do not exist or are not publicly available? It could be anything from algorithms to visuals. Thanks!
Dear researchgate members,
I recently made two attempts to grow the aquarium plant Cryptocoryne wendtii emersed, i.e., outside of water. Unfortunately, both attempts failed, and I am unsure of what went wrong.
In the first attempt, I heated soil in the oven and shaped it into a cube. I then placed the aquarium plant into this cube. In the second attempt, I used rock wool instead. In both cases, I lightly moistened the soil and rock wool with aquarium water. Subsequently, I placed them in plastic bags and provided CO2 by exhaling into the bags through a straw. The bags were sealed with rubber bands and positioned under an LED strip light. The distance between the light and the plants was approximately 10 cm, ensuring that the light intensity was not harmful.
After one week, I exchanged the air inside the bags and provided more CO2 by breathing into them again. Unfortunately, after two weeks, I couldn't observe any positive results. Almost all the plants in both the soil and rock wool died. There was no growth observed, neither in the plants themselves nor in the roots.
I am very confused and frustrated, as I don't understand where the mistake lies. Do you have any ideas or advice on what I might have done wrong? Are there specific conditions that I should consider to achieve successful emersed cultivation of Cryptocoryne wendtii?
I would greatly appreciate your help and support! Thank you!
In a patient with desminopathy (mutation Thr341Pro DES in the heterozygous state) with the progression of the disease, we note signs and symptoms that are also characteristic of botulism: bradycardia, arrhythmia, AV blockade, a significant decrease in the average duration of motor unit potentials according to electroneuromyography, paresis and paralysis of the striated muscles, decreased sweating, paresis of the gastrointestinal tract, dry eyes, dry mouth, symmetry of neurological symptoms, hoarseness, impaired visual acuity, doubling of objects occurs, progressive muscle weakness. These signs and symptoms are characteristic of botulism, only when a case of desminopathy is detected, they proceed slowly.
Hello
I am Anouk, 22 years old and graduated from professional bachelor biomedical laboratory technology me majoring in pharmaceutical and biological laboratory technology.
I would like to switch to a master degree next year but I am hesitating between 2 directions namely,
- Master in Biology
- Master in Biomedical Laboratory Technology
My interests include everything related to science, lab and nature. I love the combination of these. This year I did an internship around the ecotoxicological evaluation of sludge. This was something I considered extremely interesting.
Please get in touch as I would like to receive good advice from experience experts.
Thank you in advance
Kind regards
Anouk
Hi everyone.
Does anybody, in your experience, has any book recommendations (of recent date) for the aforementioned topics. I have the classic "Invertebrates zoology" of Rupert and Barnes, but it's quite old and, don't get me wrong, it's good for a general perspective, but still is lacking in new perspectives and discoveries regarding invertebrates.
Thank you for your attention.
Having god-beliefs, and thus NOT taking all the responsibility you can and should, supports premature hypothetico-deductive thinking (incl. "theorizing")(kind of ironically) -- which nearly always is bad (bad, unless you are VERY, VERY LUCKY) .
Freedom from religion . I am a lifetime member of such a Foundation.
GENERAL DISCUSSION : ALL can keep "playing a game" AS their lives, but that will NOT work; our absolute BEST PROBABLY WILL NOT work (in my view) -- for survival of the species, the ultimate criteria. What does doing our best look like? : https://www.researchgate.net/post/With_Climate_Change_and_all_I_will_tell_you_what_I_think_the_minimum_needed_for_survival_is
[ I am childless. I have absolutely NO PERSONAL REASON TO CARE ABOUT YOU -- I guess it is, in good part, for "sound logic"'s sake -- we can DO with that IFF [ (two "f"s are not a typo) ] we actually DO with THAT. Be an animal, forget any and all religion. (I am, by the way, a Theravada Buddhist -- an atheist, believing IN NO supernatural at all ; we have enough to do with the natural, the actual actual. We very much must be concerned with, as-much(and well)-as-possible, educating ourselF (as much as we can)(all of us, doing this) . BUT, do it in a NO-SELF WAY (to have no clutter) in YOUR [own] way, i.e. to not falsely "connect" to YOU (your own "self") in any way not necessary (or, if you must, (as you may have to) : temporarily) (AND expel any processing where you are BELIEVING something, via essentially NOTHING or nothing clear) Don't be clingy; and verify ALL YOU CAN, for yourselF (and others), and thereby come to something closer to reality [(as much as we can)], reality (or realities, if you like [(but now all at one time)]) as it really is -- this is a WAY (i.e. cross-contexts), it does not come automatically. But, it is as simple as it need be. Good luck. (For a bit more guidance, see https://mynichecomp.com .) I have NOT BEEN PAID AT ALL for half a life (the latter (later?) half ); there is really no reason not to trust me, unless you're very confused and/or [must] see me as insane.. I have no vested interest(s) (in any conventional sense) AT ALL (we all do have some interests).
I DO MEAN : much of psychology should be reconsidered in order to have CLEAR EMPIRICAL FOUNDATIONS, FOR ALL NECESSARY CONCEPTS -- for concepts to clearly correspond to some demonstrably important directly observable phenomena (like in all true sciences; another way to say this is : THE SUBJECT DEFINES ALL). This does NOT mean throwing findings out, but putting them in better contexts. Likely empirical realities (including possible observations of a concrete nature; i.e. such , at times, showing as clear OBSERVABLE bases , in clear, agreeable and reliable ways, and seen by the relationships to established PATTERNS : valid; and, that is, in really HARD FACTS -- the concrete bases at least SEEN at some points in ontogeny) . SUCH phenomena have not been discovered and are not sufficiently represented in Psychology (AND nothing much is even "begging" for what is needed, showing needed thought is not being given (in the dictatorships of the universities)).
And, they will not be as long as the group or grouped stuff (know it by p<.05 etc) is thought to be meaningful FOR THE INDIVIDUAL ORGANISM (THE unit-of analysis , always -- if you want a science). AND NOW IT IS NOT clear that THAT is, in the essential ways, usual (when such clear connections are not made and clear justifications (in THAT empiricism) cannot be given). In fact, it is totally clear that the essential features are NOT THERE.
On the positive side, I do like quite a lot of the Memories research, because some good "chunk" of it does fulfill the needed empirical foundations.
Again, as some have seen me say before, another way you can tell that most "psychology" is "OFF", is by the failure to see BEHAVIOR **_PATTERNS__** PER SE as a type of BIOLOGICAL (organismic) patterning. If behavior is not seen as Biological in nature, it is not seen well.
'Organismic' is a word that should be used WAY more often (as is 'PATTERNS'). ( I am writing for psychology here.) [ One could either say a LOT more here to make it clearer, but the words (would-be terms) give one sufficient guidance. ]
If psychology cannot do BOTH (and more, read on), it will never ever be a science (main sign of something that is NOT science : P<.01 P< .05 and the like). Real things are not group things (as statistical things often are) AND beyond probabilistic (e.g. Piaget didn't need statistics)). Unit of analysis : individual human/organism : any other view is HOPELESSLY doomed NOT to be a science.
(<-- If you cannot see and document this unit-of-analysis, you are off in your own universe(s) (yet may have many friends and professors with you).) SEE AND READ MY LAST DISCUSSION POSTED to understand "the problem" more. AND: NO, I do not accept actuarial "science" work -- which most of psychology actually is, today.
[ ( I used to tell you my writings are THE way, BUT still no listeners/readers among the lazy (which is about all OTHERS or IS all others) -- my writings still show the way. Things could hardly be worse under a dictatorship. Hear that professors who profess ???.) ]
Dear Colleagues,
Peer-review isn't working well, and it needs an overhaul. In the time of artificial intelligence, blockchain, and remote work, it doesn't make sense to wait for months just to receive few lines rejecting an excellent manuscript or accepting a poor one!
Would you spend five minutes to answer a questionnaire on Google forms, and help SCIENEUM.io solve this problem for all of us?
